Zone In On Heroes & Role Models DVDGrade level: 2-5. Children will discover that ordinary people can be heroes, as well as celebrities or super-heroes. Students also examine ways to handle heroes who don't live up to their image. Host Melanie Chang explains that a hero can be anyone who demonstrates courage, helps others, and makes safe choices. Offers a combination of animated graphics, on-location interviews, skits, commentaries by children, and studio discussion. Dramatizations will help students discuss safe and appropriate ways to handle various problems they might encounter in their everyday lives. DVD is 18-minutes, includes Leader's Guide.
The objectives of this DVD are:
- To identify characteristics of heroes and name several examples.
- To define a fallen hero.
- To learn ways to handle disappointment when a hero does something wrong.
- To understand how to become a hero by making positive choices.
